Luca Luca is a high-end women’s fashion brand founded in New York in 1991 by Luca Orlandi. Born in Milan, Orlandi comes from an Italian family with a long history in the fashion textile business.
Luca Luca’s couture-like garments at ready-to-wear prices fuse timeless elegance with a modern edge. While the collections were designed at the company headquarters in New York, the production was performed in Milan. Luca Luca earned a reputation for the finest fabrics, superior craftsmanship, and an exceptional level of detail. Sleek, feminine silhouettes and the use of a wide spectrum of colors became Luca Luca trademarks.
Unlike most fashion companies, Luca Luca was able to build its business through its own retail stores rather than relying on wholesale. Luca Luca opened its first boutique in 1992. By 2004 the company operated eight boutiques located in some of the most prestigious US retail locations, such as Madison Avenue in New York, Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, Oak Street in Chicago, and Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. The two-story Luca Luca flagship store was located at the corner of Madison Avenue and 62nd Street across from Hermès.
Luca Luca runway shows became known for their star-studded front row as Luca Luca garments often showed up on the red carpet and the society circuit.
Orlandi retired from the world of fashion in 2008 when he appointed Raul Melgoza as creative director and sold the business to a group of investors with the management being undertaken by The Equitium Group. By 2011, Melgoza’s superb designs brought Luca Luca to an all-time high popularity with customers, celebrities, and the fashion world, and that year, the company enjoyed the strongest results in its entire history.
In 2013, the brand was acquired by Equitium and preparations are under way to relaunch Luca Luca. To learn more about Luca Luca’s history, please see the Luca Luca History page.
